Takeover Friday was born seven years ago by Dan Mauney, Rodney Tucker and Rodney Hines as a way for friends to get together in a social setting. Word spread quickly and the group grew from 3 to 50 within a few weeks. The name was coined, an email list was created and the fun began.

Therapy Café, Tutto Mondo and Blue Restaurants were three of the original TOF locations. With all the excitement of organized fun, the email list surpassed the Evite specifications and the Takeover Friday website was launched. Over the past seven years, the Rodney's bowed out of Takeover and Tom Feldman, creator of the first website, stepped into the role. Exciting events (with the occasional costume) included many of the hottest and newest spots in the Charlotte scene including museums, restaurants, weekend getaways, pool parties and movie premiere launches. In 2010, Chip Perry took over Tommy's role as cohost and the party continued.

Takeover Friday 2011 is excited for its best year yet. Although Chip will be leaving us this year, we have excellent new hot spots on the agenda and many fun things to come.
